Galicia Chamber of Mines is a public association and a consultative organ of the administration, tutored by the Economy and Industry Department of the Xunta de Galicia, the regional government. It represents the interests of the mineral resources industry: mining companies, spas and mineral waters, including those companies or people involved in any phase of the mining cycle (investigation, exploration, exploitation, commercialization, etc.). It was founded the 10th of September 1925 in A Coruña, by D. Ramón del Cueto y Noval.
The Chamber field of work is the Autonomous Community of Galicia, and nowadays it comprises more than 130 members distributed in the following subsectors, all of them with representation in its board of directors:
- Bottled mineral water
- Spas
- Aggregates
- Ceramics
- Energy minerals
- Granite
- Slate
- Industrial Rocks
- Others
what we do

The Chamber is the formal representation and the spokesperson of the mining industry in Galicia. Its most noticeable activities are:
- promoting the development of the mining industry
- representing, defending and promoting the interests of its associates
- boosting knowledge related to the mining industry
- appointing experts, resolving conflicts and promoting agreements in problems related to the mining industry
- preparing reports by request of authorities and associates
Moreover, the Chamber has three main tasks:
- Information: elaboration and diffusion of statistical data, reports and publications about mining
- Formation: organization of courses, seminars and sessions on topical issues that may be of interest for the mining sector
- Consultancy: giving information about the technical, administrative, and legal aspects that affect miners (environmental questions, subsidies, new regulations. ..)
To carry out these activities, Galicia Chamber of Mines cooperates with many different agents: universities (mostly those belonging to the Galician university system), professional associations, sectorial associations, companies related to the mining industry and, especially, with the mining Administration in Galicia through the Economy and Industry Department.
